I'm sending my oldest off to public High school this year - as a Jr. It's our first experience with public school and I'm a bit nervous. I'm still homeschooling #2 and #3 and trying to potty train #4 - prayers appreciated! ;-)

Congratulations!

IT IS a huge milestone for our kids - now they can get in (how many tons of metal) and have some serious responsibility driving down the road with their lives and other lives in their hand! In one respect - It truly is scary - but on the other hand truly exciting none the less and absolutely something to smile over - as they take one more step towards independence.

We aren't raising children to be dependent on us their entire lives - we are raising them to be healthy and good decision makers to make a serious (good) impact on this world and their circle of friends.

My 19 year old has been driving for 1 year. My 17 year old got his license 3 months ago. The older has his own car and insurance (he isn't in college - so his job pays for both) the 17 year old (my middle son) will drive to work, or his friends house - sometimes picking up his younger brother from sports.

He loves when I send him on an errand - or suggest he take the car - when he doesn't even ask - He gets the feeling that I do actually trust him!

Congrats again! I'll say a prayer right now - that your daughter years and years and years of safe driving!

Oh that is a terrific milestone. I'm not sure we will ever meet that one at my house. My 23 year old still doesn't drive and my almost 17 year old still hasn't got around to it. Maybe my youngest will be first: )

Yay! conragatulations!!! What help she will be :o) Ours loved to "go for errands" for me, with the car.
Hm...you as what are some recent milestones...
We are so blessed that our older daughter is now a licensed dentist :o) and our son-in-law completed med school. :o)
...our younger daughter completed her second year of dental school :o)
...our son is now a 3rd year undergrad and finally was able to send some of his music to put on my post :o)

Wow, that's wonderful. It is such a big milestone...one that none of us forget. Our first mark of true independence, I'd say. Congrats to her :)

My niece just graduated from high school. I felt a similar joy...I was her nanny when she was little and taught her the abc's, helped potty train her, helped her learn to ride a bike...and we'd recite Robert Frost together. She was like my first baby. She homeschooled most of her school years but finished high school in public school. What a journey! And how quickly it passed. Life is amazing.
