Heather at Theta Mom is restarting her Time Out for Theta Mom posts. Go check it out. The premise is to carve out one hour a month to do something just for you without the family. I am blessed to be at a point in parenting where I get much more than an hour a month. But, sometimes I forget to take advantage of my freedom. Yesterday, I got three hours and I want to share that with you.
Do you remember my New Year's Goals for 2010? Well, for those of you that are new, first welcome and I will be visiting you soon, one of my goals is to apply to be on The Amazing Race. My friend, Amy, and I have been talking about it for several years. I feel compelled to apply this year. Sadly, Amy is not in a place where she can take this step. My other friend, Anna, has also been hoping to apply with a different friend. That friend cannot apply, so Anna and I are applying together.
Yesterday, we were to shoot our 3 minute audition dvd. Unfortunately, our camerawoman couldn't make it at the last moment. Anna and I got three hours of chat time. We went over the 13 page application, dreamed a little about what it would be like to get on the show, talked strategy (we aren't getting ahead of ourselves or anything), and discussed the actual dvd audition. It was super fun and exciting.
We know all we can do is apply and the rest will fall into place or not. We plan to have everything all together and ready to mail off by Monday. Neither of us have ever done anything like this. What show would you like to appear on?

I don't know which show I want to be on. I'm just hoping to avoid being on: COPS, Judge Judy, Jerry Springer or equivalent or the dumb hick on the evening news talking about how his barn just burned down. I live in Alabama. On a farm. It could happen.

I have no idea what the Amazing Race is (please don't feel obligated to explain it; I'll just go Google it) but I hope it all gets worked out for you. And yay for the unexpected three hours of YOU time!
I love that idea, I'm going to have to check that out! I am very, very thankful to have some time to myself when Li'l Bit is at preschool -- yeah, I do a lot of housework and errands, but most of the time I'm able to have some "me" time. Like right now! :-D Or my massage last week... but you remember how that turned out! ;-)
AND I hope you get your audition tape done soon! That would be so awesome!

I would LOVE to be ambushed at the home improvement store and have our yard done... on their dime! AWESOME! My other show would be a cooking show... yes, if I am by myself in the kitchen, I sometimes talk like Julia Childs... :)
If I were to be on a show, it would definitely be The Amazing Race. I'd love to travel to all of those places!

Wow! That is exciting! I hope that you both get selected. Hm... I do enjoy a number of different shows, but cant think of one that I would try out for. I would much rather watch someone I knew be on a show :o)
When our son was the 2007 GA Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network, I really, really did not want to be in front of the camera! But I loved to watch him and my hubby whenever they would be interviewed. I'd rather be "behind-the-scenes" :o)

oh, and about the way my daughter chose to do the flowers for each bridesmaid and maid of honor turned out perfect...she also thought about each girl and which white flower reminded her of each girl. Each of the flowers put together in her wedding bouquet also symbolized each girl's support and friendship.

Good Luck! Do you have a good plan for the audition video?! I can honestly say...there is NO show I would want to be on...I'll just sit back and watch them.

That is really exciting! I've never seen the show but I certainly would watch when you get on it! Good luck! That would be so awesome. The only show I'd want to be on is something on HGTV where they come in and redecorate a room in my house, or multiple rooms...or my whole house! LOL
