One of my goals last year was to read more for pleasure. Sure I read to research things like homeschooling, health, college acceptance, religious studies, etc., but to read for fun rarely happened in my life. I not only read books, I also began listening to books on my MP3 player. Listening to them was my lifesaver. I LOVE listening to books. I'm a slow reader because I basically read outloud in my head - every character has a voice and I read every single word. I tried to remember to keep track of the books I read or listened to, so I have included it here (I may have forgotten a couple, but I think this list is pretty accurate). I think the list shows a good variety of types of books too from chic lit to very intense and serious and everything in-between. I would love your suggestions for the new year, so please chime in.
Here is my list from 2009:
Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand
Snow Falling on Cedar, by David Guterson

Great list!!! I read quite a few of those as well!!!
Wow - that is a lot of books! Good for you! I enjoy reading books by Tess Gerristen and Robin Cook. They are medical mystery type authors.
Okay, I'm officially a book reading failure!
I'm going to be putting some of those on my list! If you like legal thrillers, Lisa Scottoline is great -- like John Grisham in a skirt. :-D And while the Shopaholic series gave me fits (frustrated w/the main character most of the time), Sophie Kinsella's other books are good for a fun, easy read.
Awesome booklist!
That sounds like a great book list. I am going to try to list all the things I plan to do this year eventually. I did buy a weight watchers cookbook after reading about all your awesome menus.
Wonderful list.
IF I ever started walking that would be a fabulous idea! I could get my "reading" in with my exercise.
You and I have similar taste in books - I've read many of those. The PB got me the Wally Lamb book for Christmas but I'm saving it to read next year in December.
For very light Christmas reading I enjoyed Debbie MacComber's angel book this year. very sweet.
And for chick lit - you HAVE to read Jennifer Weiner. Seriously,I can't put her stuff down!
This is one topic I can't help out on. I have no time to read books, my gosh, I'm lucky to get through a magazine!
Wow, great list!
This is a great list! I have read some and would definitely like to tackle some at a point in the future...we'll see!
Oh you have some of my FAVES on here! I love this list.
On another note, I have been reading you for what seems like the entire time I hve been blogging, commenting as often as my exhausted fingers and mind will let me and somehow I was NOT a follower? WTH!!
Well I am number 100 now baby!
(so sorry about that I have no idea how this is posibble! I blame blogger.)
I love reading too. I just got a package from my sister with 6 books to read...all for fun! I came over from Heather's Gonna Lose It. Sounds like you are doing great on your weight loss journey. I have just begun mine with 21 pounds to lose. I am going to follow you to see how you are doing...come check out my blog...I am brand new to all this stuff but am having fun so far!
This is truly inspiring. Barbara Kingsolver will be presenting writers' workshops at the San Miguel Writers Conference in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico February 19-23 2010. I just signed up. It looks like a rare opportunity to meet her. Are you going?
I read a couple of those same ones. I was inspired to share my 2009 list on my blog too. Thanks for the idea.
Awesome list! I don't think I have read many of those...
Wow; impressive! Last year, among others, I read (via audio) Outliers. Excellent book. The next book on my reading list is Leaders.
