I have already visited 70 of the now over 250 blogs listed on the Blog Hop Party. Wow, there are so many cool people in the blogosphere - inspirational, funny, practical - love it!
I am currently reading, actually listening with my MP3 player, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It is an epic journey in search of Dracula - I am not a Dracula kinda gal - I don't tend to read stories about vampires, sorry Twilight and True Blood fans, or werewolves, or other monsters. This one grabbed my attention, so I thought I would give it a go. It is keeping my interest and the recording uses more than one reader, so you get the effect of a readers theater which is nice.
I am actually reading not listening to The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb - Wally Lamb, enough said. Love his books. I just started and I am hooked.
I wanted to give a shout out to Girls with Books as they have several commentators that review books - all sorts of genres too. I enjoy reading the synopsis and the review of each book. I have read several they have recommended and enjoyed them all.
Zach the Cat is doing well. He threw up three days in a row and I called the vet who said to take him off one of his antibiotics and that has seemed to work wonders. Have I told you my vet is my new bff - no kidding I talk to her more and see her more than my in real life friends. I know - pathetic, but Zach is so worth it.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMERICA!!!! I always get goosebumps and tears when I think about the Declaration of Independence and all that went into the birthing of our nation - okay, so I was a history major give me a break. A great read aloud or read for kids about this time in history is Johnny Tremain
Tomorrow we are headed over to my in-laws for a bbq and fireworks. Their community does a wonderful display along with patriotic music and the whole atmosphere is fun. They have a lake in their community and we sit near that and the fireworks go off overhead. We all enjoy it very much.
So what are you up to for the 4th or in general?

Just blog hopping myself, nice to meet you. I see you also know Paula, she's one of your followers. I'm doing a giveaway on my blog ABC & 123 with her Etsy shop The Fakery Bakery 2 right now. You should check it out. We're an educational blog so you might be interested in the content we have there too.
Have to say I liked the Historian, and I resisted reading it because I thought Dracula and blood, who needs to RELAX reading that. But it was a really good book and I stayed up late two nights in a row to finish it up.
I have "The Historian" on my To Read pile! Guess I'll have to move it up the list now!
We're going to a BBQ tomorrow with my husband's unit from Iraq. Looking forward to it -- and celebrating their safe return, once again!
By the way - I'm doing a scrapbooking giveaway on my blog, so if you know anyone that scraps, send 'em on over for a chance to win!
Have a great weekend!

Hi and thanks for the comment over on my page! I was hoping to come in contact with some folks who have the same aged kids. I've also been looking for some good books to read, and that "The Hour I First Believed" looks pretty good. I have never read anything by that author before, but looked up the summary, and I may just pick that one up.
Have a happy 4th!
I am not a Twilight fan either... I sorta think its a bit evil!
Anywho... you have a beautiful family! Your blog is sure pretty!
God bless-
Amanda
I cry too at sentimental songs about our country and thinking about how it came to be. Thanks for coming by my blog.
